About us
St. Charles follows a Français Plus model, where the majority of a student’s learning is done in French from Kindergarten to grade 4, followed by a 50/50 French/English approach in grades 5 and 6. This allows for a strong foundation in the French language, which in turn gives our students the skills to be competitive in Quebec and in a bilingual world.
St. Charles is also proud to be a STEAM (Science /Technology /Engineering /Arts /Mathematics) school. An integral part of our educational project, the STEAM approach to learning promotes inquiry based practices and puts the student at the center of the educational process. Collaboration and problem solving are at the forefront of our STEAM projects and fuel each student’s educational journey.
Vision
To have students, parents, and staff form a community of learners wherein all members accept their individual roles while sharing a commitment to the pursuit of lifelong learning. In doing so, we will foster an atmosphere of respect for education and for each other.
This community will endeavour to address the development of the whole child (personal, social, cognitive, intellectual, moral, and physical) while providing a strong academic foundation.
Mission
Our mission is to provide a comprehensive early immersion education within a safe and respectful learning environment.
Our mission is to:
- foster the discovery and development of the unique identity and positive self-concept of each child.
- promote students’ academic achievements in a safe environment and to help each child reach his/ her potential in all areas of development: social, moral, physical, intellectual, cultural, and emotional.
- provide each child with the tools necessary to be a life-long learner in a changing world.
Guiding Principles
All decisions are based on the overall best interests of the students. The physical well-being and safety of each child is of paramount importance. Each child has the right to feel secure in his/her environment.
